Who We Are

A number of years ago it became apparent that Breckenridge would be our home. We all enjoyed working in both the ski and bike industries.  It became increasingly obvious that we should "take the plunge" and open our own shop; Avalanche Sports.

Our experience is extensive. We have run high volume, lift side, ski rental operations, managed downtown full service shops, and have instructed nationally on the Ski Mechanic Workshop. The three of us have over 55 years of experience working in every aspect of the ski and bike industries.

Avalanche Sports carries the newest equipment on the market. Our Breckenridge Ski Rental packages are tailored to your individual needs. We provide both women's and men's specific boots, boards, and skis. Packages are targeted towards the beginner skier/snowboarder as well as the expert. Since we are a small local operation, we have better rental equipment, for less.

We have the best Bike Rentals in Breckenridge.  Our fleet is updated each and every year.  We have Top of the Line Bikes From Santa Cruz, Yeti, and Rocky Mountain as well as bikes for any age and ability. We ride all the local trails here and can point you in the correct direction as well.

 
We also have the newest styles in winter wear from Helly Hansen, and Burton. Guaranteed to keep you warm during our long winter (And if the airlines somehow misplace your ski clothing, we rent that too.) 

Our full service Ski Tuning Center is equipped with a Montana Crystal Glide Machine. Our skis and snowboard boards receive constant attention, leaving our store with a Crystal Glide Finish, every time. From ski and snowboard tuning, mounting of bindings, to individually customed gear advice, Avalanche Sports is the only Breckenridge Ski Shop you will ever need to visit. 

Both shops are conveniently located.   Our South Location is directly across from Breckenridge Ski Resort's main base area at Peak 9, sandwiched between two other must see institutions in town, the Blue Moose Restaurant for breakfast, and the Breckenridge Brewery for dinner.   Our North Location is directly behind the Breck Connect Gondola, sharing a building with a local favorite, North Side Pizza (Northsidebreck.com).  We also feature a convenient, free parking lots, right out front.

What you can expect at our shop is prompt, courteous service, at a tremendous value. Provided by owners who have a vested interest in your positive ski experience. We answer the phones here (no automated systems-ever) We fit the boots, adjust the bindings, and tune the skis. The owners are always present. The three of us believe being an independent shop makes a difference, and you will too. People visit Breckenridge for the unique ski town experience it provides, Avalanche Sports will only enhance your visit to our town.
